High-Frequency Ventilation in the Treatment of Acute Respiratory Failure

چکیده
The need for respiratory therapy can reach 90% depending on the category of intensive care unit and (ICU). Currently is a wide selection methods, including fully controlled mechanical ventilation assist ventilation. widespread use its varieties significantly reduced mortality ICU patients. However, patients from acute distress syndrome, nosocomial pneumonia, newborns with disorders remains high. High-frequency (HFMV) an alternative treatment severe failure, but frequency not yet sufficient. Three main types HF currently available: high-frequency positive pressure (HFPPV), jet (HFJV) oscillatory (HFOV). There opportunity to choose specific mode which will be most applicable particular patient. HFOV method allows successful failure due primary surfactant deficiency, meconial aspiration or multiple organ failure. Recently high amount publications appeared possibilities non-invasive HFMV in both adult pediatrics. This mini-review devoted this problem.

high frequency oscillatory ventilation in severe respiratory failure
despite improvement of mechanical ventilation devices for infants, lung injury still causes morbidity and mortality in many cases. to determine the effect of high frequency oscillatory ventilation (hfov) in infants with severe respiratory failure, 10 neonates were evaluated prospectively. mean gestational age of these patients was 35 weeks and alveolar-arterial oxygen gradient (a-ado2) and the ...

OBJECTIVE To study the effectiveness of high-frequency ventilation (HFV) for the treatment of pediatric patients with acute severe respiratory failure. DESIGN Post hoc analysis of retrospectively and prospectively acquired data. SETTING Tertiary pediatric ICU. SUBJECTS Twelve patients, ages 4 months to 15 years, who developed acute severe respiratory failure from diverse causes. INTERVE...
متن کاملHigh-frequency oscillation ventilation for hypercapnic failure of conventional ventilation in pulmonary acute respiratory distress syndrome
INTRODUCTION High-frequency oscillation ventilation (HFOV) is regarded as particularly lung protective. Recently, HFOV has been shown to be not beneficial for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients in general. Due to its special physical effects, it could be beneficial, however, in inhomogeneous ARDS. This study evaluates the effect of HFOV on PaCO2 removal in hypercapnic patients ...
متن کاملcomparison of high frequency positive pressure mechanical ventilation (hfppv) with conventional method in the treatment of neonatal respiratory failure
conclusions treatment of neonatal respiratory failure with high rate mechanical ventilation may reduce some complications. results intraventricular hemorrhage (ivh) and air leak (e.g. pneumothorax) were less in hfppv group than conventional group (p = 0.012 and p = 0.038). the mean time needed for mechanical ventilation was lower in hfppv group, but this difference was not statistically signifi...
